Morgan Sailing was recognised by the RYA in late 2006 to teach shorebased Navigation and Seamanship theory courses (Sail and Motor), plus the Marine Diesel Engine Maintenance short course. More of the short courses, VHF DSC, First Aid, Radar and Sea Survival will be added as 2007 passes so please enquire. All teaching materials, plotters, dividers and RYA course materials are included in the price.
Based at the Sovereign Harbour we have a dedicated classroom overlooking the harbour, stocked with reference charts books and audio-visual aids to benefit the student to provide for a total learning experience. - New Basic Navigation and Safety Course - Course packs available 3/9/07 - aimed at a wider audience of powerboaters, sea anglers, divers, boatmasters, dinghy and keelboat racers and anyone new to boating. Syllabus includes charts and publications, safety & engine checks,buoyage,tidal awareness,visual nav & pilotage,rules of the road,electronic nav,anchoring,weather forecasts and passage planning. - RYA Day Skipper – An introduction to chartwork, navigation, meteorology and the basics of seamanship. Invaluable for learning how to start making decisions as the skipper onboard. We offer this course as a 20 session two term evening course or six concurrent Saturday or Sundays throughout the year, please view the calendar for start dates. Price £325.00
- RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster* – An advanced course for more experienced skippers, building on the Day Skipper course, this course covers more advanced skills in offshore and coastal navigation by day and night, pilotage and meteorology. We also offer this course as six concurrent Saturday or Sundays depending on the schedule throughout the year, please view the calendar for start dates. Price £375.00
- Marine Diesel Engine Maintenance – The aim of this course is to give an awareness of the main systems of a diesel engine and the ability to take simple measures to prevent mechanical breakdown at sea and rectify defects which do not require workshop support.
